A Day on the Beach on the East Coast

A trip to the beach is an easy drive from your resort.  It is also a great day out for you and your family to enjoy some relaxation. If it is your first trip we recommend you to visit Cocoa Beach.

From north to south, Floridas average width is 160 miles. That means that Orlando’s central location is perfect (approximately an hour’s drive) for venturing to and from the Atlantic beaches on Florida’s east coast. The Bee Line Expressway, Florida Turnpike, and Interstate 4 make arriving at your sandy destination of choice that much easier.

Cocoa Beach– If you head for The Ron Jon Surf Shop for your first trip you cannot go wrong.  There is ample parking here with a basic shower and facilities to dine. Cocoa Beach Pier, and six miles of beach make Cocoa an attractive destination. Do take some shade with you and it’s a good idea to pack a cool box with drinks and snacks as there are no services on the beach itself.  If you are travelling with children they will enjoy playing in the waves here and maybe trying to surf themselves. You could also book in for some lessons with a local surf school.

Cocoa Beach is also close to Cape Canaveral (Kennedy Space Center) for those who want to see a rocket launch.

New Smyrna Beach– North of Cocoa, New Smyrna Beach features beautiful white sand. Its rocky ledges create wave breaks that make New Smyrna a popular destination for surfers. Many fishermen nationwide prefer New Smyrna Beach as it has a generally relaxing atmosphere compared to some of Florida’s other “party beaches.”

Daytona Beach– Is famous for its beach parties.  Home to the world-famous Bike Week and the Daytona 500, and a continuous series of interesting and exciting events. Daytona Beach is spacious as it includes 23 miles of shoreline. Unique to Daytona Beach is that it allows its patrons to drive onto and through designated areas of the beach.
